The Men's Boxing Tournament at the 2003 Pan American Games was held in the Carlos Teo Cruz Boxing Coliseum in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic from August 8 to August 15.
It served as a qualification tournament for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, Greece. The number one and two earned a ticket for the Olympic Tournament in Athens, Greece, except for the heavyweight and super heavyweight division (just one berth each). Boxers who did not qualify for the Athens Games got their second chance at the 1st AIBA American 2004 Olympic Qualifying Tournament, held from March 12 to March 20, 2004 in Tijuana, Mexico.

He took the place of Aaron Garcia (USA), after the quota was dropped by the USA Boxing Association due to unsuccessful presentation at USA Olympic trials. The winner, Mickey Bey, didn’t manage to reach the final.

He took the place of Juan McPherson (USA), a finalist from the 2003 Pan American Games' when his quota was dropped by the USA Boxing Association due to unsuccessful presentation at the USA Olympic trials. The winner of those trials, Vanes Martirosyan (USA), qualified for the Qualifying Tournament in Tijuana.
