Bradford "Brad" Lewis[1] (born c. 1958)[2] is an American film producer and local politician. He produced DreamWorks' Antz and, for Pixar, the Oscar winning Ratatouille. He is a former mayor of the city of San Carlos, California. He also was director of the English version of Ponyo.

Personal life

Lewis was raised in San Mateo, California and moved to nearby San Carlos in 1991.[3] He is married with two children.[1]

Career

Lewis attended California State University, Fresno from which he received a bachelor's degree in Theater Arts in 1980.[4]

He worked as a production assistant on the The Merv Griffin Show and performed (as a "dancing monster") in a stage production of Sesame Street. [5]

Lewis worked at computer animation company Pacific Data Images (which became part of Dreamworks) for thirteen years (rising to become executive vice president) on many projects including the feature film Antz, an Emmy Award winning Hanna Barbera special, and was to have directed Dreamworks' (cancelled) movie Tusker. He also produced the Homer³ segment of The Simpsons [4] before moving to PDI's competitor Pixar to work on Ratatouille.

He is currently directing Cars 2 which will be released in summer 2011.[6]

Local politics

Lewis served five years on the San Carlos Parks & Recreation Commission before being elected to the city's council in 2005.[1] He became vice-mayor in 2006[2] and mayor in 2007.
