Breage
Breage (Breaca, Bray), obscure Cornish woman saint possibly of Irish origin, presumably the foundress of the church of Breage (Cornwall). Leland made short extracts from her Life, kept in her church. According to this, she was a native of Lagonia (= Laois?), became a nun at St. Brigid's foundation at ‘Campus Breacae’ in Ireland, and came to Cornwall in the company of many saints, among them Sinwin, Germoe, Elwen, Crowan, and Helen. Breage came first to Pencair, then to Trenwith and Talmeneth, where she built churches. Feast-day 1 May.
