Biography

Brian Barley was a Canadian tenor sax player who combined an improvisational jazz aesthetic with elements of modern composition not far removed from Stravinsky or Bartók. Sadly, Barley's career was short-lived -- he passed away from a severe epileptic seizure in 1971. He was just 28 years old. ~ Jason Ankeny, All Music Guide
