Early life

Dietzen was born in Colorado. He first became interested in acting when cast in a school play at the age of 8 years old, playing an evil elf in a Christmas play. He attended Niwot High School in Niwot, Colorado where he appeared in lead roles in several productions. Later, he studied theatre at the University of Colorado at Boulder's BFA acting program, under the mentorship of Sean Kelley, an associate professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance.

Career

He appeared in lead roles in productions of All My Sons, Equus,[1] and Waiting for Godot. He also starred in productions of Death and the Maiden, Antigone, and the regional premiere of Abingdon Square. While working on several local and regional commercials, Brian joined The Colorado Shakespeare Festival for two years, performing in Henry IV pts I and II, Henry V and Julius Caesar.

At the end of his college career, Dietzen took the advice of a friend and moved west to Los Angeles. Without an agent or a SAG card, he was called into an audition by Patrick Rush for the new WB series My Guide to Becoming a Rockstar. The part was a series regular as the drummer of the group. He later teamed up with John Riggi for a two-man show with Steve Rudnick called The Oldest Man in Showbusiness.

Upon returning from Miami, where he performed in the film From Justin to Kelly, Dietzen did stage readings with friends, eventually forming the sketch-comedy group "The Norm" with Kevin Rankin and Jill Farley. Together the group produced a live sketch show, and a popular web series "Coaching Life".

During a short hiatus from The Norm, Dietzen auditioned for a one day part on the hit series NCIS. He booked the role and five years later, the character of Jimmy Palmer is still helping the NCIS team at crime scenes and assisting Dr. Mallard during autopsies. He assists Dr. Mallard as a young medical student.

Personal life

Dietzen currently lives in Los Angeles with his wife, Kelly, and their daughter and son.
