Brian Doherty was most notably They Might Be Giants' first touring and session drummer, replacing their drum machine. He has also worked with XTC, Freedy Johnston and Ben Folds. He was one of three drummers auditioned by R.E.M. in the wake of Bill Berry's departure. [1]
He should not be confused with the guitarist of Big Wreck, with whom he shares his name.
