Brian Thompson (born August 28, 1959) is an American actor. His distinctive square-jaw profile, booming voice, and imposing stature (six-foot-three) has led him to star in many action films, invariably as a villain.
Thompson was born in Ellensburg, Washington to teacher parents.[1] His first role was playing one of the punks who are killed by Arnold Schwarzenegger's character in The Terminator at the beginning of the film. His most prominent role was as the Night Slasher, the enigmatic leader of a cult of serial killers in Cobra alongside another action star, Sylvester Stallone. The same year, Thompson played a nasty German (alongside Norbert Weisser) cohort in John Landis' comedy Three Amigos. Thompson also appeared as 'Buffalo Bob' in the movie Joe Dirt, starring David Spade.
He has also appeared in a wide variety of television shows, such as The X-Files as
the alien bounty hunter (interestingly enough he had a one-off appearance in
NCIS in an episode titled "The Truth is Out There", the tag line of the X-Files) and
Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Kindred: The Embraced (as Eddie Fiori, the leader of the Brujah clan), the movie
Fright Night II (where he plays a ghoul),
Cast against his "bad-guy" type, Thompson stars in a family film, Tillamook Treasure as Uncle Jimmy, a rough around the edges Oregon logger. Thompson worked his way through college as a logger so the scenes of axe throwing and pole falling filmed at a real logging show (the Vernonia, Oregon, Logger Show) came naturally to him. He gathered some bad reputation for his portrayal of Shao Kahn in the unpopular video-game movie-sequel Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.
Nominated Best Actor for his portrayal as 'Uncle Jimmy Kimbell' in The Tillamook Treasure at the Mid-Valley Film Festival, Salem, Oregon
Thompson lives in Los Angeles with his son and daughter. He has a black belt in Hapkido and is an accomplished screenwriter.
