Biography

Setting the silver screen ablaze with her memorable moves in Coyote Ugly and getting small-screen laughs with her role as Mr. Big's fiancée (aka "the stick with no soul") in HBO's massively popular Sex and the City, former child athlete turned Glamour cover-girl Bridget Moynahan forged a successful transition from catwalk to screen in the early years of the new millennium. Born in Binghamton, NY, and raised in Longmeadow, MA, the soccer-playing youngster soon favored preserving her looks as she began gracing the pages of some of the most-respected fashion magazines in the industry. It wasn't long before she began to seek more of her career, and after making an impression on Sex and the City, Moynahan appeared in small roles in such features as In the Weeds and Trifling With Fate (both 2000). Dancing to Prince songs was as just about as demanding as her audition for Coyote Ugly got, and the energetic actress was soon kicking her heels on the bar-top in the free-spirited film. Later appearing in such films as Whipped (2000), Serendipity (2001), and The Sum of All Fears (2002), Moynahan took a choice roll opposite Al Pacino and Colin Farrell in the espionage thriller TheRecruit in 2002. ~ Jason Buchanan, All Movie Guide

Early life

Moynahan was born in Binghamton, New York, the daughter of an Irish woman, Mary Bridget (née Moriarty), a former school teacher, and an Irish man named Edward Bradley Moynahan, a scientist and currently an administrator at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. She grew up in Longmeadow, Massachusetts, along with her two brothers, Andrew and Sean; she is the middle child. Moynahan attended Longmeadow High School and graduated in 1989. In high school, she was active with Brielmaier school athletics, participating in soccer, basketball and lacrosse.

Personal life

She dated producer Scott Rosenberg and actors John Corbett and Edward Burns. Moynahan dated NFL quarterback Tom Brady from 2004 until December 14, 2006.[1][2][3] On February 18, 2007, Moynahan's representative confirmed to People magazine that she was more than three months pregnant and that Brady was the father. [4] She gave birth to a baby boy, John Edward Thomas Moynahan [5] at Saint John's Health Center in Santa Monica[6] on August 22, 2007. In a July 2008 interview in Harper's Bazaar, Moynahan discussed her willingness to raise her son (nicknamed "Jack") as a single mother. [7]

Career

As a model, Moynahan has appeared on many magazine covers, including Elle, Self, Fitness Magazine, New Woman and Glamour. She did not begin to pursue acting until after starting her modeling career. In May 2006, Maxim magazine named her #96 on its annual Hot 100 list.[8] She ranked No. 67 on AskMen.com's Top 99 women of 2007.

She studied acting at the Caymicheal Patten Studio in New York City. In 1999, she had her first major acting role (in a guest appearance) as "Natasha" in the TV series Sex and the City, which turned into a recurring role until the divorce of her character from Big. Her breakthrough role in a feature film was as "Rachel" in Coyote Ugly a year later. Since then, she has appeared in a number of major films, such as Serendipity, The Sum of All Fears, The Recruit, I, Robot, and Lord of War.
