Review
A favorite of community theaters, Brigadoon is the tale of two tourists who stumble upon the village of Brigadoon -- quite a stroke of luck, actually, given that the 18th century Brigadoon only appears for 24 hours a century. One of the tourists falls in love with a village girl, and the very existence of Brigadoon is threatened until the 24-hour period ends and the village disappears. A beautiful Celtic score by Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe makes this show such a success. This pleasant soundtrack is sung with sincerity, if not great power, by Gene Kelly, and features a couple of near-hits. ~ Bruce Eder and Sarah Erlewine, All Music Guide
