Boundaries
It covers the same area as Bromsgrove District Council. The constituency extends through North Worcestershire including the villages of Alvechurch, Barnt Green, Belbroughton, Clent, Cofton Hackett, Hagley, Hollywood, Tardebigge, and Wythall.
History
The borough of Bromsgrove returned two members to Parliament in 1294, Thomas Rassall and Thomas Barneford, but not to any subsequent one.[1]
Since its split with neighbouring Redditch, it has always returned a Conservative Member of Parliament (MP).
The current MP, Julie Kirkbride announced on 28 May 2009 that she would be standing down as an MP at the next General Election in the light of the expenses scandal and a petition against her.[1] She later announced that if cleared by Sir Thomas Legg, she intended to contest her seat as the Conservative candidate at the next General Election.[2]
