Broome is a village and civil parish in the English county of Norfolk. It is situated on the north bank of the River Waveney, which forms the border with Suffolk, some 2 km north of the town of Bungay and 20 km south-east of the city of Norwich.[1]

The civil parish has an area of 5.91 km2 and in the 2001 census had a population of 475 in 190 households.[2] For the purposes of local government, the parish falls within the district of South Norfolk.[3]

Thomas Manning

Thomas Manning was a resident of Broome; he was the first white man to visit the Dalai Lama and also meet Napoleon, during his capture on the island of Saint Helena.

Joe Lewis

The Peterborough goalkeeper Joe Lewis is a former resident of Broome. Lewis currently has three under-21 international caps and was called up to the senior England squad in August 2008, although he remained as an unused substitute and is yet to be recalled.
