Biography

Although newly formed in 2000, the members of the Brothers Cosmoline played an integral part in the Toronto music scene for many years. Bassist John Switzer has produced numerous artists, including Jane Siberry. In 2001, the group entered the studio to record its first album, Songs of Work and Freedom, on Bobby Dazzler Records. The album was nominated for a 2002 Juno Award for Best Roots/Traditional Album or Group. The Brothers Cosmoline have also performed at the North By Northeast (NXNE) music showcase and Canadian Music Week. Their style is a mix of country and pop, often cited as a cross between Dire Straits and Merle Haggard. The band has also been known to perform in a traditional style, around one microphone. ~ Jason MacNeil, All Music Guide
