Earnest Ray "Bubba" Bean is a former American football running back with the Atlanta Falcons in the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted ninth in the first round in the 1976 NFL Draft. Bubba played three seasons for the Falcons, 1976 through 1979. Although he completed his one career pass reception attempt for 49 yards, he was utilized only for rushing in the second and third years. His peak total gain came in the second year with 707 yards on 193 attempts, but his peak average, 4.5 yards per carry, came in his last year on only 88 attempts. [1] He also conquered his college propensity to fumble the ball following a gain; there were no fumbles in the last year, and the Falcons recovered all of his 11 fumbles in the previous two years.[1]
