Bubwith is a village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England. The village is situated about 8 miles (13 km) north east of Selby, and 6 miles (9.7 km) north of Goole. It is situated on the east bank of the River Derwent, west of which is the Selby district of North Yorkshire. It lies on the A163 road.
The civil parish is formed by the villages of Bubwith and Breighton and the hamlet of Willitoft. According to the 2001 UK census, Bubwith parish had a population of 1,104.[1]
The village was the home of ARTTS International, the film and television training centre established by John Sichel, until it closed in 2005.[2]
The Bubwith telephone exchange has been ADSL enabled since July 2005, and became MaxDSL enabled in March 2006.
Bubwith also has a primary school and a leisure centre (which hosts Bubwith Playgroup.[3]) There are playing fields at the back which are good for kiting as the field is open and doesn't have too many trees around it.
