Bud Moore was the Head Football Coach at the University of Kansas Jayhawks from 1974 to 1978, compiling a record of 17-27-1. He was 1975 Big 8 Coach of the Year (and runner up to Woody Hayes for national coach of the year honors), and led his team to a 23-3 upset over eventual national champion Oklahoma, breaking the Sooners' 28 game winning streak. A native of Birmingham, Alabama and a graduate of the University of Alabama, Moore played and coached under Coach Paul Bear Bryant. He also coached under Charlie Bradshaw at Kentucky, Gene Stallings at Texas A&M and Bill Dooley at North Carolina.
After retirement from coaching, Moore entered private business. He has been active in bird dog field trials and showing Tennesee walking horses, having raised and owned national champions in both venues.
