Buff is the registered trade mark for a multifunctional article of clothing produced by Original Buff S.A., a company based in Igualada, near Barcelona in north eastern Spain since they were established in 1992.[1]
Developed by Juan Rojas in 1991 for wind protection while motorcycling, the Buff headwear is a tube of microfibrous fabric that, with different arrangements, can be worn as a scarf, bandanna, headband, beanie, face mask, tube top, helmet liner, wristband, and other variations. The manufacturing process takes place on a specially developed tubular loom to make the finished garment seamless.[2]
Buff headwears are featured on the American reality show Survivor, where they are worn by all the contestants. The company has also been the title sponsor of the Skyrunner World Series of high altitude endurance races since 2003.[3]
Buff headwears are also used by Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman during their trip from John O'Groats in Scotland to Cape Agulhas in Africa for the show Long Way Down.
