Although inspiration for its name came from the General Bullmoose character in Al Capps' Li'l Abner comic strip, Bull Moose Tube is quite serious about its role in the tubular market. A subsidiary of UK-based steel maker Caparo Group since 1988, the company manufactures mechanical and structural tubes and sprinkler pipe. Offering one of the largest size ranges in the industry, it makes as-welded mechanical tubes, hollow structural sections, V50 pipe, and sprinkler pipe, used in building structures, handrails, telescopes, and vehicle underbodies. Bull Moose Tube's growth caught investor notice in 2007 when SPP Capital Group offered $100 million for the company. The deal was later pulled due to market conditions.
