Biography
Well-respected French supporting actress and occasional leading lady Bulle Ogier made her film debut in Jacques Rivette's classic L'Amour Fou (1968). Before that, Ogier was involved with experimental theater -- she is considered a key figure in France's café-theater movement. Since her debut, she has appeared in nearly all of Rivette's films. Her most notable films for other directors include Alain Tanner's La Salamandre (1971) and Luis Buñuel's Le Charme Discrete de les Bourgeoisie (1972). ~ Sandra Brennan, All Movie Guide
Ogier's first appearance on screen was in Voilà l'Ordre, a short movie directed by Jacques Baratier with a number of the then-emerging young singers of the 1960s in France, including Boris Vian, Claude Nougaro, etc.
She is the mother of the actress Pascale Ogier (who died of a heart attack on the eve of her 26th birthday). Ogier was married to producer and director Barbet Schroeder.
