The Burbo Bank Offshore Wind Farm is a wind farm located on the Burbo Flats in Liverpool Bay at the entrance to the River Mersey. It is owned and operated by DONG Energy. The wind farm consists of 25 Siemens[1] 3.6MW wind turbines with a total nameplate capacity of 90 megawatts (MW). This is enough electricity to supply 80,000 households.[2] The wind farm will also help to mitigate climate change as over the 20-year operating life it will save approximately 6.4 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.[2]
The wind farm was officially inaugurated on 18 October 2007.[3]
