Biography

Ottawa, Canada's Buried Inside blend the aggression of heavy metal and hardcore with the songwriting ambition of progressive rock -- along similar lines as Neurosis and Isis. First formed in 1997, the group refined its sound over the course of two independently released albums: 1999's In and Of the Self and 2001's Suspect Symmetry, as well as nonstop touring with the likes of Converge, The End, Unearth, and others. This brought them to the attention of major metal force Relapse Records, which went on to release their third effort, 2005's one-song, 40-minute concept piece Chronoclast. At time of recording, Buried Inside consisted of vocalist Nicholas A. Shaw, guitarists Andrew Tweedy and Matias Palacios-Hardy, bassist Stephen A. Martin, and drummer Michael B. Godbout. ~ Eduardo Rivadavia, All Music Guide

Buried Inside, formed in 1997, is a band from Ottawa, Canada. They are influenced by early metalcore and hardcore punk bands such as Acme, One Eyed God Prophecy, and Union of Uranus. Their sound includes distorted vocals, creatively-timed drumming, heavy use of octave double stops which creates a very melodic effect and occasional sampling of gloomy film dialogue or instruments like the cello. Their lyrics mostly deal with themes of time and how it regulates and enslaves people. In 2005, They signed to Relapse Records and put out their "concept" album, Chronoclast.

In March 2009 they released a new album titled Spoils of Failure.
