Burnt Pine

Wikipedia: Burnt Pine

Burnt Pine is the largest and, by some measures, only settlement on Norfolk Island. It serves as the de facto capital of the island, as well as the commercial hub.

Geography

The settlement is located on either side of Taylors Road and contains the major infrastructure for a town - businesses, offices and residential properties. Towards the southern end of the road, Douglas Drive and Peter's Highway intersects it and leads to Norfolk Island Airport.

Cascade

According to some,[who?] a secondary settlement named Cascade exists on the island. This settlement, if the general definition is accepted, is located at the Cascade Road crossroads and is the site of Norfolk Island Central School. The existence of a separate settlement is questionable, however, as very little infrastructure exists at this site and it is not far removed from the outskirts of Burnt Pine.
