Butane torch

Wikipedia: Butane torch
A small butane torch made for kitchen use

A butane torch is a tool for burning the flammable gas butane.

The maximum adiabatic flame temperature a butane torch can achieve with air is 2243 kelvin (1970 °C / 3578 °F).

Consumer air butane torches are often claimed to develop flame temperatures up to approximately 1700 kelvin (approximately 1400 °C / approximately 2500 °F).

Butane torches are frequently employed as kitchen gadgets to caramelise sugar in cooking. See for example crème brûlée.

Another use for butane torches is lighting candles around the house and minor plumbing repair work.
