Butuanon is an Austronesian language spoken in Agusan del Norte and Agusan del Sur, with some native speakers in Misamis Oriental and Surigao del Norte. This is a member of Mansakan language family. According to an article in the Manila Times, as of 2007 the Butuanon dialect can only be spoken by fewer than 500 youngsters in Butuan itself.[1]
One unique aspect of this language is that it is said to be very closely related to the Tausug language of far-away Sulu.
