Cérons AC

[say-RAWN] Small appellation that is located southeast of the city of Bordeaux along the Garonne River, abuts barsac and is surrounded by the much larger appellation graves. Cérons AC produces only sweet white wines, similiar to those from sauternes though not as intense, sweet, or expensive. The grapes used are sémillon, sauvignon blanc and muscadelle. Decreasing interest in sweet wines has led many producers in this area to shift to dry white wines, which must be labeled with the Graves appellation.
