Cachoeirinha (lit. "Little Waterfall") is a city situated in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul. Cachoeirinha is an alternative for the people who want to be near Porto Alegre (capital of Rio Grande do Sul). The city is situated in a strategical point in Rio Grande do Sul state. The easy access to the neighboring cities is what makes Cachoeirinha a "great city". The city has boundaries with Porto Alegre, Canoas, Esteio, Sapucaia do Sul, Gravatai and Alvorada. The city holiday is on May 15, the date on which the city declared its emancipation. Cachoeirinha is famous for having a large industrial district and is the seat of various branches of large enterprises. Cachoeirinha has two shopping centers being - the biggest of the Shopping do Vale - and a hypermarket the Hipermercado Big.

Municipal policy

The Executive of the Municipality of Cachoeirinha is represented by the mayor and his office of Secretary, following the model proposed by the Federal Constitution. The Legislative Power is represented by City Council, composed of 11 councilors elected to office for four years. It is the House vote and establish fundamental laws to the administration and the Executive, especially the municipal budget.

Population

In the 1970s, was one of Cachoeirinha gauchos municipalities with higher population growth. The city has 117,203 inhabitants which are divided into 43.7 square kilometers of land area. The absolute majority of the population lives in urban area, with only 700 residents call in rural areas.

Traditionalism

The most popular traditions of the gaucho has people in a comfortable and beautiful Cachoeirinha Center Traditions. It is the Center of Gaucho traditions CTG Rancho da Saudade, located near a park in rodeos, where events are held which bring together artists, riders and thousands of people. The Creole round, held annually in the city, received the recognition of the Government of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, and is included in the official calendar. The rodeos held in Cachoeirinha attract people from various cities of Brazil.

Education

Municipal schools, state and individuals are responsible for teaching thousands of children and young people. Meeting the constitutional requirements, prioritized on their network Cachoeirinha primary school, which is inscribed the great majority of students, distributed in 20 municipal schools. There are 15 public schools and 8 private. Seven other state schools and three individuals are responsible for following the school, offering technical courses, professional.
