Cadwgan

Cadwgan (Cadogan) (d. 1111), Welsh prince. Cadwgan was one of the sons of Bleddyn ap Cynfyn who ruled Gwynedd and Powys from 1063 to 1075. He began in the 1080s by waging war against Rhys ap Tewdwr of Deheubarth, who was killed in 1093 by the Normans. The following year Cadwgan led a great counter-attack against the Norman advance in Wales, in league with Gruffydd ap Cynan, king of Gwynedd. Rufus himself led two expeditions to restore control. In 1102 Cadwgan joined with Robert of Bellême, earl of Shrewsbury, in revolt against Henry I but was defeated. He was murdered while trying to re-establishhimself in Powys.
