Sports Science and Medicine: caecal slap syndrome

A condition characterized by diarrhoea and a stitch-like pain in the right side of the abdomen. It is common in distance runners, and is thought to be due to the posterior wall of the caecum slapping against the anterior wall, producing bleeding and bruising.
