is such a familiar word that it can be spelt without an accent. It should still be pronounced kaf-ay, however, not (except humorously) kaff or kayf. In American English the word means 'a bar or nightclub', and in recent years it has acquired a significant extended role in the context of communications technology, in terms such as Internet cafe and cybercafe.
