Biography

Celebrating the joys of Cajun music, eight of the genre's top instrumentalists and singers joined together to record the historic album Chez les Cajun. While the focus remained on traditional music, the album included two original tunes: "Newz Reel" by fiddler/vocalist Michael Doucet and "Blue Cajun" by Doucet and accordionist Errol Verret. Members of Doucet's band, Beausoleil, played an essential part in the project with important contributions from accordionist Jimmy Breaux and acoustic guitarist David Doucet. The studio group was rounded out by a mixture of Cajun musicians, including Sonny Landreth and Christine Balfa, and non-Cajun musicians including Dobro, steel guitar, and lap steel player Cyndi Cashdollar and acoustic guitarist/producer Artie Traum. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
