Campolina
The Campolina horse breed of Brazil dates back to 1870. Named after Cassiano Campolina, a farmer who began his horse breeding in the South of Minas Gerais using stallions imported by D. João VI for the Coudelaria Real of Cachoeira do Campo.
History
The Campolina breed dates back to 1840, where it was formed in Entre Rios de Minas, Minas Gerais in Brazil. It was developed by a farmer named Cassiano Campolina on his farm (Fazenda Tamque). In 1870, Mr.
Campolina received a black mare named "Medéia" from a
friend. The mare was Brazilian, and Campolina bred her to a pure Andalusian stallion that belonged to Mariano Procópio. Medéia had a
foal named "Monarca", which was dark gray, and a half blood Andalusian. Monarca, who served for 25 years in the herd of "Fazenda Tanque", is considered the founder of
