Plot

Eddie Polo, formerly of Universal, starred in this action serial, the first of a planned six chapterplays for the low-budget Star Serial Corp. Unfortunately, the headstrong Polo, who also employed his brother Sam and daughter Malvina, spent a reported 300,000 dollars on Captain Kidd, a sum that the States' Rights serial could never possibly recoup. As a result, no more Eddie Polo serials were produced and the wiry star hightailed it to Europe. In Captain Kidd, Eddie played Edward Davis, whose ancestor had been betrayed by the legendary pirate. There is a buried treasure, of course, and Davis faces opposition from a greedy cousin (Leslie J. Casey) who will stop at nothing to get his hands on the fortune. Kathleen Myers, here billed for unknown reasons as Katherine Myers, played the love interest, and Captain Kidd also offered employment for Bradley Barker and future makeup artist Carl Axcelle. ~ Hans J.
