Review

Hot on the heels of Pokemon and Digimon comes CardCaptors, another collectible toy craze and cartoon series from Japan that mixes the competitive appeal of the aforementioned series with Sailor Moon's girl power. Like those other juggernauts, CardCaptors also has its own soundtrack, CardCaptors: Songs From the Hit TV Series, which features songs related to the show, such as Tempest & Rikki Rumball's "Guardian of the Cards" and Black Europeans' "Whenever You Try," as well as teen pop from Pure West, Magic Carpet, and Christopher Rouse. While most of the album is bland even by teen-pop's standards, Rockshot's "Lucky Day," Superhum's "Ordinary Girl," and Froggy Mix's "No Nagging" stand out as the soundtrack's most distinctive tracks. Though it will doubtlessly please fans of CardCaptors, the album offers little to anyone else. ~ Heather Phares, All Music Guide
