Carema DOC

[kah-REE-mah] DOC zone located in the far northern portion of Italy's piedmont region in a mountainous area next to the valle d'aosta doc. This is a red-wine area, and the primary variety used is nebbiolo which must comprise a minimum of 85 percent of wine. The cool mountain climate doesn't ripen the grapes as effectively as some of the warmer Nebbiolo regions so the wines are not as powerful as those from barolo docg or barbaresco docg, but rather more delicate and aromatic.
