Carlos Cavazo is an American guitarist. He was a member of Quiet Riot during their most commercially successful period. Replacing Randy Rhoads in the band in the 1980s, he remained in Quiet Riot into the 2000s until the band split up. However, when vocalist Kevin DuBrow reformed the band to record the 2006 album Rehab, Cavazo was not included.
Born July 8, 1957, Cavazo is originally from Orange County, California (Anaheim Hills) where his first band with brother Tony was called Speed of Light. He and his brother, along with drummer Stephen Quadros and singer Doug Ellison, went on to create the Los Angeles band Snow, which performed regularly at the Whisky A Go Go and the Starwood Club, as well as the Santa Monica Civic and the Pasadena Civic auditoriums. In 1980 Snow released a 10" record that received airplay on Southern California radio stations KROQ and KLOS.
His father Robert, originally from Mexico City, married a belle from the South and owned an energy plant. Cavazo went on to record instructional DVDs and in recent years has joined a new band in the Hollywood Allstarz alongside former Rainbow and Dio bassist Jimmy Bain as well as Black Sabbath and Dio drummer Vinny Appice.
Carlos Cavazo is an accomplished acoustic guitarist, favoring classical German composer Johann Sebastian Bach, Renaissance Baroque and Latin influenced compositions. Newer projects include bands 3 Legged Dog and Big Noise. In 1990 Cavazo appeared in the film The Adventures of Ford Fairlane as a member of the fictional band Black Plague, which also featured Vince Neil, Phil Soussan, and the late Randy Castillo.
Currently, he is a member of Ratt, replacing John Corabi.
