Carlos Gomez (born 1 January 1962) is an American actor.

Biography

Born in New York to Cuban parents, Carlos Gomez is one of the busiest character actors, working today, crossing from television to film and theatre, with great ease. “I’ve learned most of my craft by observing and learning from great actors that I’ve had the pleasure of working with”. His range of projects reflects this versatility.

Audiences will remember him most as “Chuy” the ex boyfriend of the talented and beautiful Salma Hayek in the hit romantic comedy FOOLS RUSH IN. He also appeared in the action packed movie DESPERADO directed by the great Robert Rodriguez as “Right Hand”. Other films credits include THE NEGOTIATOR, ENEMY OF THE STATE, THE REPLACEMENT KILLERS, A DAY WITHOUT A MEXICAN and the upcoming spring release THE PERFECT GAME.

In 2003 he appeared as Lieutenant Alvarez in the Academy Award nominated film HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG starring Sir Ben Kingsley, and Academy Award winner Jennifer Connelly. In television he was nominated for an Alma Award playing Adam Marquez in the NBC mini series ASTEROIDS. He also appeared as paramedic Raul Melendez in the hit series ER which garnered him a SAG AWARD for best ensemble for his episode “The Healers”. He has portrayed an extensive variety of roles in some of the highest rated TV shows like FRIENDS, NYPD BLUE, NEW YORK UNDERCOVER, BOSTON LEGAL, RESURRECTION BLVD. CSI, WITHOUT A TRACE, CRIMINAL MIND, IN PLAIN SIGHT, 24, SHARK, and the critically acclaimed SHOWTIME series SLEEPER CELL and WEEDS. This has been a very exciting year for Carlos, he just completed starring on BROADWAY as Kevin Rosario in the Tony Award winning musical hit IN THE HEIGHTS. His two songs from the show INUTIL and ATENCION are both part of the soundtrack that just received the GRAMMY AWARD for BEST MUSICAL ALBUM. As a producer, Carlos created the pilot “MIAMI THING” produced by Paramount TV under producer Lisa Ling. Carlos’s production company CORAFILMS are in the process of acquiring properties for the bilingual entertainment market. Television, film or webisode projects are being considered at the moment.
