Biography

A brunette American leading lady of early British talkies, Carol Goodner was brought to London as the star of The Butter and Egg Man in 1927. She made her screen debut in the British Those Who Love (1929), and went on to play in the murder mystery The Ringer (1932) and the romantic A Student's Romance (1935). Returning to New York at the outbreak of war in Europe, Goodner appeared in the original 1939 Broadway production of The Man Who Came to Dinner and, three years later, replaced Eve Arden in Cole Porter's Let's Face It. She later worked quite a bit in early television. ~ Hans J. Wollstein, All Movie Guide
