Carp Road

Wikipedia: Carp Road

Carp Road is a rural road that runs between Fitzroy Harbour, Ontario and Stittsville, Ontario, through the village of Carp, Ontario.

Carp Road is also known as Ottawa Road #5. In Stittsville the Carp Road ends at Stittsville Main Street. Ottawa Regional Road 5 then becomes Stittsville Main Street for about 5 km through Stittsville, and then continues south of Stittsville as Huntley Road (Ottawa) toward the town of Richmond.

A curious artifact of pre-amalgamation Ottawa is the inconsistent numbering of addresses on Carp Road, divided at the intersection of Rothbourne Road, the boundary of the former townships of Goulbourn and West Carleton: Addresses begin at 1000 and run south toward Stittsville in Goulbourn, but begin at 2000 and run north toward Fitzroy Harbour in West Carleton.

Among the more famous landmarks along the road are the Carp Road Landfill run by Waste Management and the Diefenbunker Cold War museum.
