Drew Christopher Carter (born September 5, 1981 in Solon, Ohio) is an American football player who currently plays wide receiver for the Carolina Panthers of the National Football League. He attended Ohio State University and Solon High School.
High school career
Carter tallied 33 receptions for 890 yards and three touchdowns as a senior in his first season of football. He registered three touchdown catches in his football debut.
College career
Carter's college career was marred by several injuries to his knees and ankles. He produced 41 catches for 632 yards and one touchdown during his college career.
NFL career
Carter's NFL career has been hampered by injuries to his right knee. He spent his rookie season in 2004 on injured reserve after tearing the ACL in his knee during June coaching sessions. He has also missed additional time throughout his career with injuries to his ankle. He made the team roster midway through the 2005 NFL season after the team released Rod Gardner, and made an impact upon his first catch, taking it 44 yards to set up a Panthers score. He is currently second on the team's depth chart, behind Steve Smith.
