Castle Frank is a station on the Bloor-Danforth line of the subway system in Toronto, Canada. It is located at 600 Bloor Street East at Castle Frank Road, near the former location of Viaduct streetcar loop, which was the longtime terminus of the Parliament streetcar.

History

Castle Frank Station was opened in 1966.

This station is named after the community that it serves. Its streets, and the brook that flows through it, are in turn named after Sir John Graves Simcoe's summer residence in that area overlooking the Don River, which burned down in 1829. The residence was ultimately named after Francis Simcoe, the founder's son.

Historical marker, located south of Bloor Street adjacent to Castle Frank station, was placed on the approximate site of the historic Castle Frank residence in 1957

East of the station, the line runs under Bloor Street to use the lower deck of the Viaduct. At the end of the Viaduct it swings to parallel Danforth Avenue on the north side.

Construction of second entrance

In mid-2008, the TTC commenced work on installing a second entrance from street level to the west end of the eastbound and westbound platforms. The project is scheduled for completion in 2010. [1]
