Plot

In the late '80s, good-time girl Stacy (Lea Thompson) and her timid friend, Melissa (Victoria Jackson), decide to hit a health spa for singles in hopes of spicing up their unfulfilled sex lives. Afraid of AIDS, Stacy has gone celibate, while Melissa has only ever managed to get it on with two lame guys. Arriving at the resort, the women spend their time working out, flirting with staff members, making friends and enemies with their fellow singles, and avoiding the attentions of the oafish Vinny (Andrew Dice Clay). When a cruel psychologist plays mind games with Melissa, she finds solace with Vinny, then flees the spa, interrupting an incipient romance between Stacy and a cute aerobics instructor. Wendy Goldman and Judy Toll adapted their own stage play, while Casual Sex? provided director Genevieve Robert her only feature credit to date. ~ Brian J. Dillard, All Movie Guide

Plot

Stacy (Thompson) has a promiscuous past, and after learning of the AIDS epidemic she wants to find a guy who she knows is clean, so she convinces her childhood friend Melissa (Jackson) to go to a health spa for singles. They received or bought a basket filled with condoms. An event the first night they're there called International Night had the men and women all take miniature flags and put them in plunger-shaped hats and then meet the person with the identical flag.

At the spa, Stacy meets Vinny, aka the Vin Man (Clay), an annoying New Jersey man with an Italian accent which she tries to avoid. Upon leaving the spa and returning to New Jersey, he experiences some changes.

After becoming upset, Melissa returns to LA via the 2PM bus and Stacy follows her, but it turns out that Melissa remained at the resort. Stacy brings her new boyfriend back to her apartment which she soon realizes out that he's taking up all her space and that she actually doesn't really like him. She rents a pink Cadillac and returns to the spa. After a period time that Stacey went to the spa it shows her at Christmas time opening the door and letting Michelle and her boyfriend in. As they come in, Stacey's now husband Vinny, her two young boys, and their dog come down the stairs. As Michelle and Stacy laugh as the boys attack Vinny and Michelle's boyfriend, Stacy says "There's your boyfriend" Michelle replys "So what, there's yours." Finally Stacy says to the camera " Yea, that's my boyfriend" and smiles then hugs Michelle.

The movie makes frequent use of breaking the fourth wall. The movie opens and closes to the lyrics of Hot Hot Hot. Rotten Tomatoes does not have a rating for the movie, but the 3 reviews it collected were all negative.[2]

Back Cover

"Who says sex isn't a laughing matter? Certainly not the ready-for-anything Stacy (Lea Thompson) or her somewhat repressed friend Melissa (Victoria Jackson).

Determined to develop a meaningful relationship with a man who's not afraid to make a commitment, the girls take a vacation at a plush health resort. With high hopes, Stacy and Melissa embark on the quest to track down The Perfect Man. But unfortunately, the men they encounter seem to wilt at the thought of anything more than... Casual Sex. The result is a hilariously provocative comedy that offers a lighter look at what happens in the dark."
