Data which can be placed into categories which are mutually exclusive, such as age groups. Categorical data analysis is a statistical technique used when one or more of the variables involved in an investigation is measured at a nominal scale, that is, where names, such as ‘male’ and ‘female’, rather than measurements, are used.
