Irish Literature Companion: Cath Maige Rath

Cath Maige Rath (Battle of Moira), a tale of the historical cycle, surviving in a 12th-cent, redaction, about a battle which took place in AD 637 near the village of Moira in Co. Down. It deals with the dynastic struggle between Domnall, High King of Tara, and Congal Claen of Ulster. The din of battle drives Suibne mad [see Buile Shuibne]. The tale is continued in Fled Dúin na nGéd.
