Catrike

Wikipedia: Catrike

Catrike is a brand of lightweight tadpole-design recumbent tricycles manufactured by Big Cat HPV, LLC, which is based in Winter Garden, Florida, United States. The company was founded in 1999 by Paulo Camasmie. Catrike riders are very loyal to the brand, with an annual factory-sponsored rally in March.[1]

Models

The Catrike line consists of six models. All Catrikes have aluminum frames and are the lightest production trikes in their respective design classes while also having high limits for rider weights. All Catrikes use front disc brakes and have a mesh, non-adjustable seat. Steering on all current models (and most past models) is controlled with a direct steering mechanism with Ackerman compensation. Rider size variations are accommodated via a telescoping boom.

  • Pocket—The Pocket has 16" front wheels and a 20" rear wheel. It is described as a "light trike that is compact and easy to transport." It is especially intended for riders shorter than 5'-8". It (and the Trail) are the most upright of the line, with a 45-degree seat angle.
  • Trail—The Trail is a recreational/touring trike. It has 20" wheels and is smaller than the Road but larger than the Pocket. It is also the least expensive model.
  • Road—The Road has 20" wheels and is designed for general recreational use and touring.
  • Speed—The Speed has a 20" drive wheel and 16" front wheels and is designed for speed.
  • Expedition—The Expedition is a recreational/performance/touring trike with a 26" rear wheel and 20" front wheels. It is the largest trike Catrike currently makes.
  • 700—The 700 is a performance trike with a 700C rear wheel and 16" front wheels. It is the most reclined of all the models, with a 27-degree seat angle. It is also the most expensive model.
  • Villager-Catrikes newest model. More of a recreational vehicle. Great for urban settings with its increased ground clearance and higher seat. 20" front and rear wheels.[1]

Catrikes are the best selling recumbent trikes in the United States.[citation needed] Catrikes are manufactured in the United States.[1]
