Plot

This four-part documentary series focused on the "pieces of time" captured by newsreel and amateur cameramen throughout the 20th century. Among the historical events immortalized on celluloid were the JFK assassination, the aftermath of the Hiroshima bombing, the Kent State killings, the sinking of the Andrea Doria, and the 1968 Democratic convention. Also featured were poignant glimpses of historical figures both large and small, including a rare home-movie image of Anne Frank. Each episode closed with a request to the viewers to send in their own movies and videos of major and minor news events. Debuting over the History Channel on April 16, 2002, Caught on Film was simultaneously released in a four-volume VHS set. ~ Hal Erickson, All Movie Guide
