CD Player was a computer program that played CDs. It was included in some versions of Microsoft Windows. CD Player can be downloaded for Windows 95 and Windows Me[1]. It was later included in Windows 98, and as Deluxe CD Player (a modified version), in Windows 2000.[2] It was also included in Microsoft Plus! for Windows 98. It has been removed from modern versions of Windows.

Features

Deluxe CD Player

When the CD Player is launched, it searches the optical drive looking for CD Audio Tracks, looks up disc metadata with an internet service, and plays the disc. If no disc is inserted, the message "Data or no disc loaded" is displayed. In Windows 95/98/Me/XP, CD recognition, track and artist data can be manually entered and are redisplayed on next load.
