Biography

Best known for playing the hail-fellow-well-met character of Edward Endfield in John Barrymore's version of Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde (1920), Cecil Clovelly was a longtime friend of Barrymore's, appearing on Broadway opposite the "Great Profile" in Peter Ibbetson (1917) and The Jest (1919), and as the Gravedigger in Hamlet (1922). He later played Dr. Sommers in the long-running Life With Father (1947). ~ Hans J. Wollstein, All Movie Guide
