Biography

The gentle melodies of the Native American flute are fused with the sounds of classical silver by Cedar Wind, a Wisconsin-based duo featuring classical flute, wind synthesizer, and keyboards player; record producer; and composer Al Jewer and Native American flute player and classical guitarist Christine Ibach. Accompanied by hand drums, rattles, and bells, the two musicians collaborate to create an aural atmosphere of natural-sounding melodies. Inspired by her Cree heritage, Ibach received her first flute at a Mohican powwow. Studying with Native American jazz flautist R. Carlos Nakai, she developed a unique, world-conscious approach to the wind instrument. Born to French lineage, Jewer has previously worked as a classical flute player and session musician. ~ Craig Harris, All Music Guide
