The Center for Democracy and Technology (CDT) is a Washington, D.C. based non-profit advocacy group that works to promote liberal values and constitutional liberties in the Digital Age.
CDT's stated aim is working to keep the Internet open, innovative and free. With expertise in law, technology, and policy, CDT seeks practical solutions to enhance free expression and privacy in communications technologies. CDT is dedicated to building consensus among all parties interested in the future of the Internet and other new communications media.
In 1994, Jerry Berman parted ways with the Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) and formed the Center for Democracy and Technology.
