With a membership of 3 million spread out in the organised sectors of rail, postal, telecom, banking, insurance sectors and unorganised sectors like construction workers, bidi workers, day-wagers.
Chittabrata Majumdar was General Secretary of CITU from 2003-2007. 12th Conference (held in January 2007) of CITU was re-elected him as its General Secretary. But he died on 20th February 2007. The General Council of CITU met on 17th May 2007 and elected Mohammed Amin as its new General Secretary.
