Chad Gray (born October 16, 1971 in Decatur, Illinois, US), is the lead vocalist for American metal band Mudvayne and rock supergroup Hellyeah.
Personal life
Son of Dan and Mitzi Davis of Edgewater, Florida. In HellYeah's DVD, Below the Belt, he talks of how his grandmother, Betty Rau, raised him and would bring him to perform in choir.
He quit his factory job that paid $40,000 a year to move to Peoria, Illinois and formed Mudvayne.[1]
In 2005 Gray married Kelli Olson; they have a home in Redding, California.[2]. In the same year his Grandmother died from cancer that she had been battling for years, he dedicates the Hellyeah song "Thank You" to her and also wrote Mudvayne's Death Blooms about her struggle.[3]
Gray is known both for his clean singing and trademark screams and growls. He occasionally wears make-up on stage.
